At Reliable Movers, we know moving can feel overwhelming—especially if it’s your first time hiring a moving company. That’s why we’re here to make things simple, clear, and stress-free. We are a full-service, family-owned local moving company based right here in Syracuse, and we handle every part of your move from start to finish.

We are fully licensed by the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) and the USDOT, which means our pricing is carefully regulated and transparent—no games, no hidden fees.

How Does Pricing Work? What Am I Paying For?

When you hire Reliable Movers, YOU (the customer) pay for the full moving service. That includes:

• The truck
• Our professional movers (not subcontractors or temps—real employees!)
• Fuel
• All the necessary supplies like shrink wrap, padding, dollies
• We even disassemble and reassemble your bedroom furniture!

Movers generally offer 3 types of pricing:
Hourly rate (you pay by the hour + per mover)
By weight (you pay based on how heavy your stuff is)
General binding estimate (a set price no matter how long it takes)

We use the General Binding Estimate method because it’s the most predictable and fair for you.
This means:

• One upfront price.
• No hourly charges or watching the clock.
• No surprise fees at the end.

The only time your price would change is if your inventory changes drastically (like if you suddenly add a whole extra room of stuff we didn’t plan for).

How Do We Calculate Your Moving Cost?

We don’t charge by the hour or by weight. Instead, we price your move based on:

• The size of the moving truck
• How much space your belongings take up inside it (¼, ½, ¾, or full truck)

Example:
You might only need half a truckload if you’re moving from a small apartment—or a full truck if you’re moving a larger home.

Not Sure How Much Space You’ll Need?

That’s totally normal. Most people don’t know exactly how much stuff they have.

We offer free in-home estimates. One of our moving experts will visit, assess your belongings, and help you figure out exactly how much space you’ll need—no commitment required.

Here’s a basic guide to help you visualize:

• 1–2 bedroom apartment: fits in a 16-foot cube truck
• 3-bedroom home: fits in a 26-foot truck

After reviewing your inventory, we’ll recommend the right truck size and give you a price. That price includes everything:

• Truck
• Labor (2–7 movers)
• Fuel
• Shrink wrap and padding
• Disassembly and reassembly of beds
• Use of dollies and moving equipment
• One trip from your old place to your new one

Note: Long walkways, stairs, multiple stops, or additional trips may slightly affect your rate—but we’ll always explain these clearly in advance.

What’s Included in Your Price?

No need to worry about extra costs—you’re paying for a complete, all-inclusive service, which covers:

• Truck
• Movers (usually 2–7 team members)
• Fuel
• Shrink wrap and moving pads
• Dollies and equipment
• Disassembly and reassembly of beds
• One trip to your new home

Extra-long walkways, stairs, additional stops, or extra trips may adjust the price slightly, but we’ll always explain this upfront.

Our Current Local Moving Rates (Within 30 Miles of Syracuse)

NYSDOT requires basic insurance of $0.60 per pound (included in your price). Full-value insurance is available for extra protection (with a $500 deductible).

26-Foot Truck (1 Trip)

• ½ truck: $1400
• ¾ truck: $1700
• Full truck: $2100

28-Foot Truck (1 Trip)

• ½ truck: $1900
• ¾ truck: $2400
• Full truck: $2900

30-Foot Truck (1 Trip)

• ½ truck: $2000
• ¾ truck: $2500
• Full truck: $3000

16-Foot Truck (1 Trip – Not available April to September)

• ½ truck: $1000
• Full truck: $1500

Note: During peak season (April to September), we start with a minimum of ½ a 26-foot truck.

Specialty Moving Services (Add-Ons)

• Hot Tubs: $400–$1000 (depending on location and setup)
• Gun Safes: $300–$1000 (priced by weight and access; about $1 per lb)
• Store Deliveries: $50–$300 (depends on size and placement)
• Professional Packing: $26 per box (includes box, labor, and materials; specialty boxes priced separately)
• Pianos: Upright: $300–$500 | Baby Grands: $500–$1000 (depends on stairs, weight, and type)
• Storage: $250–$350 per month (climate controlled; 30-day minimum)

NYC moves start at $3000 minimum, regardless of shipment size.
