Not all movers are created equal — and not all are legally authorized to handle interstate moves. Just because a company has a flashy website or glowing reviews doesn’t mean they’re legit.
Before you hire any long-distance moving company, check their USDOT number on the FMCSA website. Make sure it says:
“Authorized for HHG (Household Goods).”
If it doesn’t — or worse, if they can’t provide a DOT number at all — walk away. If you can’t physically visit their office? Run.
Reviews can be bought, traded, or written by friends and family. Ask your friends and family for real referrals instead.
